Our goal is to develop every player and to create an environment that puts players in as many "decision making" situations as possible. We believe in teaching players how to play the game based on concepts. Basketball is a fluid game, and the more able players are to improvise, the better they will be at playing the game later within any "system".
Malik Brooks, Executive Director for Fever Basketball, recruits and screens all coaching candidates. The Fever screening process includes a background check, a required USA Basketball license, and completion of a concussion training program.
Our head coaches must pass a level three background screening provided through Sterling Volunteers, one of the leading background check agencies in the country. Sterling volunteers follows the best practices in data security and ensures the coaches & trainers their personal information is kept private and safe. The level three background check affiliated with the USA Basketball Coach License consists of a criminal record search in all county and state jurisdictions of an individual’s last seven years of address history. The screening process also checks a nationwide criminal database of over 350 million records and a proprietary nationwide arrest record database to identify records in places the individual has lived and/or visited. The Complete Criminal Record Locator Search searches alias and maiden names in addition to the individual’s primary name. The background screening provides monthly updates.
For more information about the background screening follow this link.
For information about disqualifying criteria follow this link.
Fever head coaches ARE REQUIRED to complete the background screening as part of the USA Basketball Licensing process. The license is valid for up to 1-year and is required to be renewed and active at all times for coaches to represent Fever Basketball programs. This requirement ensures that coaches receive continued education, training and resources in effort to provide high quality instruction and safety to all participants.
Coaches MUST agree to follow the USA Basketball Coaches Code of Conduct. Download the USA Basketball Coaches Code of Conduct here.

By requiring our head coaches to have an active USA Basketball license, all coaches follow the SafeSport initiative. The SafeSport initiative, set forth by the United States Olympic Committee, raises awareness about misconduct in sport, promotes open dialogue and provides training and resources to all participants of the game. By creating a healthy and supportive environment with a focus on safety, SafeSport keeps athletes and coaches in the game. Coaches must take and complete SafeSport Courses to receive their USA Basketball License.
The SafeSport courses include and cover:

Outside of our great families, Fever coaches are arguably the most important part of our organization. As such, Fever offers coaching development opportunities for our coaches. We encourage our coaches to attend at least one coaching clinic each year and offer our coaches the option to be apart of the Positive Coaching Alliance. Development opportunities represent Fever's ongoing commitment to offering our players great coaching.
The Rocky Mountain Fever Basketball Club is always looking for great coaches to help us develop our athletes. If you love the game of basketball and are committed to helping young athletes develop their skills and grow their love for the game, this is the job for you.
Visit the Coaches Page on our website to see if you are the type of person we are looking for to lead one of our teams.
