Great Friendships Are One Of The Many Reasons To Choose Fever Basketball

Our Philosophy

Our goal is to develop every player and to create an environment that puts players in as many "decision making" situations as possible.  We believe in teaching players how to play the game based on concepts.  Basketball is a fluid game, and the more able players are to improvise, the better they will be at playing the game later within any "system".

eXPERIENCE:

Rocky Mountain Fever has organized over 100 teams since 2008 and we have placed them in leagues and tournaments locally, regionally, and nationally.  You can be confident that Fever Basketball will organize competitive teams that focus on player development, learning the game of basketball, and having fun.

BALANCE:

We want your child to be a kid and enjoy his or her summer.   From years of experience, we know that four to five tournaments is just about the right number when also trying to schedule family activities and vacations.  Fever directors and coaches will encourage families to include basketball as part of a balanced lifestyle and a fun and relaxing summer.  You know what they say about all work and no play...

In wanting what is best for our children, we can all sometimes get caught up in the allure and prestige of club sports.   Life does not have to be all about basketball, especially at a young age.  This chapter in your child's life will be over before you know it.  Fever Basketball encourages young athletes to follow their basketball passion while enjoying other sports and activities.

COMPETITION:

Fever basketball believes that competition makes us all better.  All players who attend our tryouts are given a fair chance to earn a spot on a team.  That being said, it is always hard to offer tryouts knowing that we will not be able to invite all of the players in attendance a spot on a team.  For the players who are not invited to play on one of our teams, we are happy to offer feedback and suggestions for ways to improve their skills.  We'll also do our best to help families find somewhere to play.  We acknowledge that Fever Basketball is not for everyone, but we promise to be fair and objective in selecting our teams.

VARIETY:

We offer several different competitive options for players with different levels of interest and experience.  You can choose to participate in a year-round program, compete during the summer when your family may have fewer conflicts and commitments, or play during the traditional fall or winter basketball season.  We offer Fever Basketball School for players who want to work on individual skills independently or in small groups.  We have a program for pretty much everyone.

INDEPENDENCE:

Fever has strong relationships with many organizers of leagues and tournaments in the area including Gold Crown, M.A.Y.B., JAM, RiseUp and PTPS.  When your child plays for a Fever team, he or she will have a chance to play in leagues and tournaments offered by some of the biggest names in youth basketball and play against  the best competition at that age level.

CONSISTENCY:

Our year-round program offers the greatest opportunity to improve your skills in part due to the consistency of playing with the same team for one year.  We believe athletes will develop their skills more quickly if they play on a team with other players of similar ability for longer periods of time than 8 or 12 weeks.  Moreover, our players who continue playing on one of our teams receive consistent instruction from experienced coaches.  In tournaments, often the best teams we face are teams on which several players have continued playing together for many years.  Consistency is a key component of a player's  development and team's competitiveness.

VALUE:

Rocky Mountain Fever Basketball, the only non-profit basketball program in Northern Colorado, works very hard to keep costs low and offer programs our families feel add value to their experience.  When evaluating the cost be sure to compare what is received, hours of the sport, coach fees, rentals, game fees, insurance, and travel expenses. We think you will agree, we are a good value.

OUR FAMILIES:

Fever Basketball is fortunate to work with many great families in Northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming.  We are truly thankful to have the support of many engaged and loyal families.  Many of our current players come from families who have registered multiple children in one of our clinics or on one of our teams.  If you spend any time around our program, you will meet many welcoming, friendly families who share a common goal with the Fever organization; to provide young athletes in Northern Colorado with a fun and positive athletic experience and give them direction to improve basketball skills, build character, and prepare them for life.  You and your children will build lasting friendships through your involvement in Fever Basketball.

OUR COACHES:

We have experienced, passionate coaches who care about developing kids.  All of our coaches pass a background check, a concussion protocol exam, and have opportunities to develop their skills through the USA Basketball Youth Development Program, the Positive Coaching Alliance, and several coaching clinics.  Our coaches have a wide range of experience including past coaching stints in college, high school, middle school, and club programs.  We have coaches who have played at the collegiate and professional level, and every summer, several Fever alumni come back to help coach as well.

YOUR FEEDBACK:

We value your feedback and actively solicit input from our families.  We will listen and respond to your questions and comments.  Parent feedback makes our program stronger.  Many of the improvements we are implementing in 2016 come as a result of direct feedback from our players, parents, and supporters in the community.
